Summer at Porter’s is excited to once again partner with the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory DNA Learning Center to bring the next evolution of Fun with DNA! Building on the success of last year, this year’s program combines favorite experiments with exciting new labs and discoveries, offering something fresh for both returning and first-time campers.
Through hands-on laboratory experiments, cutting-edge biotechnology and expert guidance, girls will step into the role of scientists, explore the fascinating world of genetics, and discover just how exciting science can be. Campers will have new opportunities to ask questions, investigate possibilities and make discoveries of their own.
Throughout the week, campers will get hands-on with the tools and techniques used by real scientists, from extracting DNA from plants and animals to examining microscopic organisms and engineering bacteria that glow in the dark. Along the way, they’ll build DNA models, investigate genetic mutations and explore how scientists use biology and technology to solve real-world mysteries. Working together through experiments and scientific challenges, girls will discover that science is as much about curiosity, creativity and collaboration as it is about finding answers.
The week culminates in a student-led showcase, where campers share their experiments, discoveries and newfound knowledge with family and friends. By the end of the week, girls won’t just have a deeper understanding of genetics and biotechnology: they’ll have the confidence that comes from asking big questions, making discoveries and realizing that they have what it takes to think, experiment and problem-solve like scientists

Summer at Porter’s is excited to partner again with Motogo to offer Girls in Gear. Throughout the week, girls will step into the world of mechanical engineering as they take apart and rebuild vintage motorcycles. Guided by experienced instructors, girls will explore the world of mechanical engineering while developing the confidence to tackle challenges, solve problems and try something new.
Throughout the week, campers will work together to take apart and rebuild vintage motorcycles, while exploring the science, mechanics and engineering principles that make them run. Along the way, they’ll learn to use tools safely, understand how engines and mechanical systems work and put their problem-solving skills to the test. Working in small teams with experienced instructors, girls will discover that engineering is as much about creativity, curiosity and collaboration as it is about nuts and bolts.
By the end of the week, campers won’t just have a deeper understanding of how things work. They’ll have the confidence that comes from building something real, the pride of seeing their hard work come to life and a new appreciation for what they can accomplish when they’re willing to take on a challenge.
This is an example of one day, campers will progress through different stages of disassembly and rebuilding throughout the week.

Miss Porter’s School is partnering with Advantage U to bring girls a unique tennis experience that goes far beyond the game. Together, we’re creating a tennis camp that helps girls grow as players, understand themselves as athletes and learn how to care for the bodies and minds that make it all possible.
Through daily tennis instruction, conditioning, hands-on workshops exploring nutrition, personal growth as an athlete and wellness, as well as field trips, athletes will explore the many pieces that help female players feel and perform at their best. On the court, they’ll develop technique, movement, strategy and confidence. Off the court, they’ll learn about nutrition and fueling, recovery, sports science, mental performance and what it means to take care of themselves as growing athletes.
Along the way, girls will discover more about their own strengths, learn to listen to and trust their bodies and build the confidence to lead on the court and beyond.

Summer at Porter’s is once again offering She Means Business: a hands-on entrepreneurship experience for girls where big ideas become real business experience. Through interactive workshops, real-world challenges and collaborative projects, girls will explore what it takes to start a business, make smart financial decisions and use their entrepreneurial spirit to make a difference in their communities.
Throughout the week, campers will step into the role of entrepreneurs, working together to dream up, design and launch their own small business. From brainstorming creative ideas and developing a brand, to setting prices, managing budgets and marketing their products, girls will experience firsthand what it takes to bring a business to life. Along the way, they’ll explore the fundamentals of financial literacy, including saving, spending, budgeting and understanding how businesses make money. They’ll also discover how entrepreneurship can be a powerful tool for creating positive change.
The week culminates in the opening of the She Means Business pop-up shop, where campers put their ideas into action, welcome customers from the Miss Porter’s and Farmington communities and donate their profits to a local cause they choose together. By the end of the week, girls won’t just have a better understanding of money and business: they’ll have the confidence that comes from turning an idea into a reality and a deeper understanding of their ability to make a meaningful impact on the world around them.
