Camper Care, Health, & Safety
Camper well-being is at the center of everything we do. Our Director of First Aid works closely with the Summer at Porter’s team leading up to the season and throughout all eight weeks of camp to help ensure campers are supported with consistent care.
How We Support Campers
Every camper arrives with their own personality, experiences, strengths, and needs. Our staff take time to build genuine relationships, meet campers where they are and support them through challenges with care and encouragement so they can feel known, included and confident in their place at camp.
When Camp Feels Hard
Homesickness, friendship challenges, big emotions and moments of uncertainty are all normal parts of camp. Our staff are trained to recognize and navigate these moments with care and empathy, helping campers feel supported while building the confidence and resilience to move through them.
How Families Can Support the Camp Experience
Families play an important role in helping campers feel confident, capable, and ready for camp. In the weeks leading up to summer, talk together about what to expect, practice everyday independence, review community expectations and make space for questions or mixed emotions. Encourage your camper to ask for help, try new things and work through challenges, while sharing any information with our team that can help us support them well. A little preparation at home can go a long way toward helping campers arrive ready to grow, connect and belong.
